President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that tolerant Islam should not be judged by the acts of stray criminals and murderers.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Sisi said Muslims should fix themselves first to stop a minority from distorting "our history", defaming "our present" and threatening "our future."
Egypt's challenges are not restricted to terrorism, he said, adding that it would not deter the Egyptian people from achieving their basic aspirations they had revolted for.
The construction of civil modern state institutions will continue, he said, noting that the country had held the presidential polls after the constitution had been drafted.
The Egyptian people will resume the future roadmap with electing their representatives in parliament, he added.
Egypt hopes its lawmakers will undertake their supervising and legislative roles under their different political orientations, he added.
The Egyptian private sector has to be encouraged to promote investments and serve as a locomotive for development, he added. (MORE)
