Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Sunday ordered the immediate removal of all abandoned vehicles on streets as part of the fight against terror.
He also decided to cancel any vacations for the traffic services during Eidul Fitr (Muslims' lesser Bairam), pressing the need for firmly applying the decision of banning parking of vehicles in downtown Cairo and laying out an immediate plan for removing abandoned cars on all streets in order not to be used in any terror attacks.
The remarks were made at a meeting held early Sunday to discuss all aspects related to traffic movement and safety on roads inside and outside the cities.
The meeting was attended by ministers of health and transport and representatives of several bodies concerned.
They also discussed a project to apply the smart management of roads which aims at operating electronic guide signs on the road and instant data on density and traffic flow in some areas.
