
General Prosecutor Counselor Hisham Barakat has cited a mandatory publication ban in reference to investigations carried out by the prosecution into the abduction of Captain Ayman Mohamed Ibrahim el Dessouki.
The police officer, who works at the Harbors Security Authority, was kidnapped while heading for his office in Rafah, North Sinai.
The decision was taken by the prosecution to safeguard investigations and evidences in the case, a statement released by the prosecution Monday said.
The ban covers all mass media whether television, radio or publications including websites except for statements released by the prosecutor's office in the case.
