The Interior Ministry has set up a wide-scale security plan to secure citizens’ celebrations of Eidul Fitr next week.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting Thursday with Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar and a number of security leaders to review the internal situation.
Following the meeting, the interior minister met a number of his aides to lay down a comprehensive security plan for the Eid holidays, a security source told MENA.
Abdel Ghaffar ordered arming all joint forces securing vital and police institutions with heavy weapons to be able to immediately counter any attacks, the source said.
Also, security patrols will be seen at popular gatherings during the Eid vacations, especially public parks, cinemas and Downtown Cairo, the source said.
Bomb disposal squads will be deployed around shopping malls, and recreational and tourist sites, the source said. (MENA)
