Egyptian tourist drowns in Lebanon's Jeita Grotto

An Egyptian tourist has drowned in the Jeita Grotto of Lebanon.

The man, no identified, 25, was waiting to have a tour through the caves when he fell into the water, said Egypt's ambassador in Beirut Mohamed Zayed.

The diplomat told MENA reporter in the Lebanese capital that he is following up the developments in the incident with the authorities.

The director of the famous tourist destination Nabil Haddad mourned the Egyptian man's death.

The Jeita Grotto is a system of two separate, but interconnected, karstic limestone caves spanning an overall length of nearly 9 kilometers. The caves are situated in the Nahr al Kalb valley within the locality of Jeita, 18 kilometres north of the Lebanese capital Beirut.
