The legislative department of the State Council approved on Saturday the proposed amendments made on four bills in the penal code along with the bylaws applied at Egyptian prisons.
The amendments include the article 78 of penal code amended and proposed by the ministry of justice to address crimes against national security.
The amendments suggested tougher punishments against those found guilty for receiving funds, equipment, weapons or ammunition to damage state interest or to commit terror attacks.
The new punishment starts from a half-million pounds fine to life imprisonment or death sentences.
Also, the drafts propose the same penalties for whoever promises, gives or provides mediation to facilitate the commitment of the said crimes.
According to the new changes, the traffic laws will give the prime minister the power to allow usage of tourist vehicles in public transport.
