Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al Maliki will visit Egypt soon for talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry to coordinate stances as Egypt is due to access the United Nations Security Council in the beginning of 2016.
In statements to MENA on Thursday, Maliki said "Egypt's membership at the UNSC will change the international community's standpoint on the Palestinian cause."
He said this will prod the international community into placing the Palestinian cause at the top of its agenda.
"The Palestinians are confident that their cause will change in form and content as Egypt accesses the UNSC," he said, highlighting Egypt's continued support for the Palestinian cause.
The distinguished ties between the Egyptian and Palestinian leaderships will facilitate taking needed steps at the UNSC to serve the Palestinian cause.
