
Egypt's ambassador to Togo Karim Sherif held Tuesday a press conference to expound the ways of boosting bilateral ties between the two countries in the various fields over the coming period.
During the press conference, attended by Togolese media outlets, Sherif explained preparations for a celebration marking the 63rd anniversary for the July 23, 1952 Revolution on Thursday.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry in Cairo, the ambassador pointed out topics discussed with Togo's President Faure Gnassingbé pertaining to his partaking in the celebration of inaugurating the New Suez Canal on August 6.
Sherif said he also met with the country's trade, industry, tourism, and supporting private sector minister to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Togo.
Their meeting reviewed establishing an Egyptian clinic in Togo and a factory for pharmaceutical products according to agreement between Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and the Togolese president on the fringe of the recent Ebola summit, held in Equatorial Guinea.
The Egyptian envoy extended an invitation from the Egyptian Tourism Ministry to representatives form Togolese counterpart to visit Egypt, an invitation welcomed by the minister, stressing her desire to chair this delegation.
A group of Togolese artists paid a visit to the Egyptian embassy to greet the ambassador over the July 23 Revolution, and to show their solidarity with Egypt in its war against terrorism.
