Egypt's cabinet confers on political, economic, security files

The Cabinet met Wednesday under Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab to discuss political, economic and security files.
The meeting takes up measures to fight terrorism and preparations for the Egyptian Economic Development Conference (EEDC) due to take place in Sharm el Sheikh on March 13-15.
Efforts to secure basic needs of citizens are also to figure high at the talks.
A report on Egypt's foreign policy and its participation in a meeting of Arab interior ministers in Algeria is also on the agenda.
The ministers are to discuss action to lure more foreign investments following the endorsement of a number of new economic and investment laws.
They also tackle efforts to amend a number of laws on parliamentary elections.
