
Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam mourned the death of Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat who died in a terrorist attack that targeted his motorcade earlier in the day.
In a statement released on Monday, Allam said the criminal elements which target judges and judicial officials would not achieve their aims, noting that judges will continue to carry out their duties.
He asserted that such attacks will only increase the steadfastness of the Egyptian people to defend their country.
The mufti called on the Egyptians to unite their ranks to protect the country against the heinous terrorist attacks and collaborate to achieve security and stability of their country.
He offered condolences to the family of the prosecutor general and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
