Egypt's Mufti: We focus on construction not fighting

Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam said on Tuesday Al Azhar opinion about Jihad is different from the opinion of the extremist groups as Al Azhar urges construction, building and respect of lives while the extremist groups focus on fighting.

In statements to MENA correspondent to Jordan on the sidelines of his participation in a conference on fighting extremism, the Mufti said Egypt has been exerting tremendous efforts to fight extremist thoughts in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's call for correcting the distorted image of Islam.

The Mufti said Dar al Ifta is in constant contacts with many channels including universities, the ministry of youth, media outlets and social media to correct the distorted image of Islam.
