
The Ministry of Energy has launched the National Young Professional Committee at the World Petroleum Council, in a step aimed at empowering the youth to address challenges in the oil sectors.
The launching ceremony, held today at the Ministry's pavilion in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and conference (ADIPEC 2016), was attended by Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy; Shamma bint Sohail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Dr. Matar Hamed Al Neyadi, Under-secretary of the Energy Ministry and Ahmed Mohammed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for Petroleum Gas & Mineral Resources, and UAE OPEC Governor.
Al Kaabi was named as Head of the Committee, with Alya Al Yassi, Director of Government Communication at the Ministry, as the First Deputy, and Haifa Al Yazeedi, Manager of Intelligent Subsurface Center at ADNOC, as Second Deputy.
"Youth are the UAE's real asset. Our country has early focused on the development of young capabilities, particularly in the oil and gas sector," Suhail Al Mazrouei said.
He added that the oil and gas is one of the leading sectors in terms of attracting young talents, saying the majority of ADNOC Group's 60,000 employees are young people.
Shamma Al Mazrui described the launching of the Committee as "a great step that signifies the vision for empowering the youth and making a positive difference in the petroleum sectors."
