The Arab League Council began on Monday an extraordinary meeting at the level of permanent delegates under the chairmanship of Morocco and in the presence of Arab League Secretary-General Dr. Nabil Elaraby with participation of a high-level Palestinian delegation led by Chief Palestinian Negotiator Dr Saeb Erekat to follow up the implementation of the decision of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers, which was held on July 14 last, on ending the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and considering the developments of aggression.
The Palestinian delegation would submit a detailed report to the council on the latest developments of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, the repercussions of the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in all aspects, Arab steps to be taken to support the demands of the Palestinian people and to provide international protection to them by the United Nations.
The meeting will review progress of the indirect negotiations conducted under the auspices of Cairo. The non-implementation of truce between the two parties led Israeli to continue its aggression on the Gaza strip.
Arab League Secretary-General will submit a report to the Arab League Council on contacts and moves made by the Arab League and international actors since the first day of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
