The Palestinian National Liberation Movement "Fatah" Thursday congratulated the Egyptian people and its leadership on the occasion of opening the new Suez Canal, describing this historic milestone as a source of pride to the Arab nation.
Speaking to MENA, Fatah spokesperson Fayez Abu Atiya said the completion of dredging works at the new Suez Canal in a record time embodies the January 25th and June 30th revolutions' goals.
This historic achievement proves the Egyptian people and its leadership have the strong will to face challenges for the sake of achieving progress and regaining the state's regional and world role, he added.
The participation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the new Suez Canal's opening ceremony is strong evidence of the depth of the Egyptian-Palestinian relations and reflects the Palestinian leadership's support for Egypt to bring about progress and comprehensive development for the Egyptian people, he asserted.
