Fayyoum monastery rejects monks action on road crisis
Monastery of Saint Macarius in Wadi al-Rayan

The monks complex of the Monastery of Saint Macarius in Wadi al Rayan, Fayyoum, condemned the acts of some monks as inappropriate regarding a recent crisis emerging from the establishment of a new road near the monastery.
The crisis erupted after the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church under Pope Tawadros II approved the establishment of the road but the monks rejected the move.
In a statement, the complex said the monastery was not responsible for any remarks issued against the Church or the pope.
The complex said it was governed by the Church and is committed to its decisions.
