Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry handed over an invitation from Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to visit Egypt.
Egypt's top diplomat said the visit will help boost ties and cooperation between Cairo and Baghdad, the ministry's spokesman said.
He said Shoukry held talks with al-Abadi on his government's painstaking efforts to close the ranks of all Iraqis and bilateral ties.
They discussed also the ongoing fight against Daesh terrorist group.
Iraqi government forces and Kurdish fighters and Shiite militias are battling Daesh militants who swept through the north in June and consolidated on gains in western Iraq.
