Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry warned of the growing terrorism phenomenon which harmfully hits the Middle East, in particular, and the world at large.
The danger of terrorism is not confined only to security threats but also includes the extremists' desire to expropriate future generations and control societies through values and ideas that have nothing to do with Islam, he added in his speech during the international press conference of the 13th Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA) held on Monday.
Shoukry, meanwhile, underlined the importance of attaining unity among the international community to combat this phenomenon.
He further said that Egypt is at the forefront of countries that fight terrorism, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Egypt's membership at the UN Security Council will give it a chance to coordinate international efforts to counter terrorism, Shoukry added.
Shourky also hailed the role played by the ECFA in providing ideas and solutions for several international causes.
