The Egyptian Foreign Ministry helped an Egyptian family stranded in war-torn Taiz, Yemen's third largest city, return home safely.
The man, identified as Nady Gerges, was brought home along his wife and son on Wednesday night.
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had given instructions to the ministry's consular sector and Ambassador to Yemen Youssef el Sharqawy to exert all possible efforts to bring the family home from Taiz, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad Hesham el Naqeeb said.
The Egyptian ambassador in Yemen had contacted Yemeni Foreign Ministry officials and Taiz governor to secure the family's return under gravely critical circumstances and issue them exit visas from Sanaa airport, Naqeeb said.
They changed flights at Saudi Arabia before returning to Egypt.
The ministry official extended greetings to the family over Eastern Christmas, saying their return on Christmas Eve brought joy to everyone who helped in their safe return.
