Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Hisham el Naqib said Tuesday that the Foreign Ministry is following the abduction of six Egyptians in Libya while on their way back home.
The kidnapped, who work in Tripoli, were taken to an unknown place between Beni Walid and Misrata, he added.
They are Ibrahim Hefzi Mohamed Galal from Minya, Shawqi Mohamed Ali, Saleh Gaber Younis, el Sayyed Ramadan Mahmoud, el Sayed el Shahat Abdel Hamid and Ahmed el Shahat Abdel Hamid, all from Mansoura, he said.
The Foreign Ministry and the Egyptian embassy in Libya are exerting every effort to check on the kidnapped Egyptians and free them as soon as possible, he asserted.
Naqib urged the Egyptians to avoid traveling to Libya in light of the current circumstances in the country.
