Visiting French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault called on Wednesday for putting an end to the war in Syria as soon as possible.
Speaking at a press conference following a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, Ayrault urged respecting the ceasefire decision, currently applied in Syria.
He added that he will hold a meeting on Sunday with his US, German and Italian counterparts in Paris to discuss the situation in Syria.
Ayrault voiced support for efforts exerted by UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura to reach an appropriate political solution to the Syrian crisis.
