Gaza aid pledges await Israel-Palestine dialogue

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has said aid pledges by international donors to the Gaza Strip await a solution to the current standstill.
During a meeting with reporters on Sunday, Shoukry added that indirect Hamas-Israeli talks stumbled over escalations and dearth of political will.
The international donors pledged 5.4bn dollars for the Gaza Strip after the aid conference sponsored by Norway and Egypt.
Norway's foreign minister will visit Cairo in January to meet a Palestinian delegation to evaluate the situation and discuss means of aid delivery, he said.
The talks in Egypt were meant to reach a ceasefire and a mechanism to meet the demands of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, he said, adding that the international community needed a monitoring body to supervise the aid channeled to the Palestinian Authority to be used in reconstruction.
At least 100,000 Gazans lost their homes in the 50-day conflict between Israel and Hamas earlier this year.
Much of the territory's infrastructure was damaged.
