A group of Fatah leaders in the Gaza Strip resigned on Tuesday in protest against corruption in the selection system for party leaders in the coastal enclave, a statement said. The group of around 10 leaders said that the "method and mechanisms" for issuing orders and the "injustice and selectivity"of choosing leaders in Gaza, were the reasons behind their resignation. The only way to solve this crisis is to hold elections without any favoritism, the group said. The Fatah leadership committee in the Gaza Strip was announced in late April. The 20-member committee was headed by Yazid al-Huweihi, who then resigned in June together with other Fatah officials, in protest against changes within the movement in Gaza.
