Faisal bin Abdullah al-Henzab
Geneva - QNA

States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) strongly condemned the measures taken by the Houthis to dissolve the parliament and the seize of government institutions to Yemen, expressing rejection of all violent acts that aim at making political gains and terrorize people.
This came Tuesday in the speech delivered by HE Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab on behalf of the GCC States, about the situation in Yemen, before the 28th session of the Human Rights Council.
Ambassador Al-Hanzab stressed GCC States' commitment to the security and stability of Yemen and their support for the legitimacy of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi as well as the need to complete the political process in accordance with the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanism.
Yemen today stands at a dangerous crossroads. It either slides towards more chaos, instability and disintegration, or finds a solution to the crisis, he added.
He pointed out that the GCC States' leaders have accepted President Hadi's request for holding a conference on Yemen, under the Umbrella of the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh, in accordance with the objectives set out in the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, of Saudi Arabia.
He also renewed the invitation to all parties for good faith participation in the National Dialogue in order to restores the political process back on track, and to spare Yemen and its people more suffering.
We share the UN Secretary-General's concerns about the reports of the use of excessive force to disperse peaceful demonstrations, arbitrary arrest and detention of civil society activists and journalists, he added.
HE Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, concluded the statement of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), emphasizing the importance of justice and accountability for all human rights violations that have taken place in Yemen.
