
The officials of the e-government agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council convened here Monday to complete preparations for the unified GCC government e-gate.
"The meeting tackled a number of proposals and projects relevant to the unified GCC e-gate," Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Abdullatif Al-Sarea told reporters on the sidelines of the Kuwait-hosted 14th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council government e-gate.
He added that "the conferees have also reviewed the initiatives made by each member state for the optimal use of the unified gate." He underscored the importance of the Gulf Cooperation Council government e-gates in connecting people to governments and helping nationals and residents easily get access to the government services.
Al-Sarea noted that Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have already linked their e-government portals.
For his part, Director-General of UAE Smart Government Mohammad Al-Mansouri said that the Executive Committee seeks to offer distinguished services to GCC nationals and to improve the GCC states' rank on the UN development index.
Meanwhile, Director General of Saudi e-Government Program Ali bin Saleh said that the meeting reviewed the joint GCC action to develop e-services.
He pointed that the conferees have followed up the implementation of commitments and projects of the GCC e-government strategy.
CEO of the Bahraini E-government Authority Mohammad bin Ali Al-Qaed said that preparations for the launch of the GCC e-government goes smoothly.
He unveiled that eight initiatives were presented to the 14th meeting to be approved and implemented within a period of 6-8 months.
