Bahrain is gearing up to host the 33rd Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) Summit which is expected to draw the attention of top Gulf states leaders to discuss regional development. Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, among others, will join the high level meeting on Dec. 24-25 to be focus on issues including the plans to push the proposed GCC union. During the 32nd session held in Riyadh of Saudi Arabia last year, the GCC Supreme Council decided to establish a GCC fund for development, which would begin by providing support for development projects in Jordan and Morocco totalling 2.5 billion U. S. dollars for each. The council has also decided to support all regional and international efforts aimed at combating terrorism.
