The Giza Criminal Court on Wednesday issued a ruling fining former chairman of the Accountability State Authority Hisham Geneina 20,000 pounds after he was found guilty of slandering via publishing former justice minister Adel Abdel Hamid.
Also, the court issued another ruling fining Tahany Ibrahim, a journalist with Al Wafd newspaper, a similar sum of money while fining former chief editor of the paper Magdy Sarhan 10,000 pounds.
The court also ordered the three to pay an aggregate sum of 100,000 pounds to Counselor Abdel Hamid in the form of compensation.
Al Wafd newspaper published on September 29, 2013 a news story including false accusations by Geneina against Abdel Hamid such as receiving funds in violation of the law and looting State's funds during his post as minister of justice.
