Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab decided that the government will bear the cost of renovation of public facilities and facades of buildings, which were damaged due to a blast that targeted the National Security building in Shubra Al-Khaimah, said Qalyubia governor Mohamed Abdel Zaher.
In a statement on Friday, Abdel Zaher said that Mahlab assigned the Arab Contractors company to carry out such renovation works.
The renovation started today, the governor said.
According to a committee formed to inspect the affected buildings, no severe damage was caused.
The committee stressed that no building will be evacuated, he added.
In the wee hours of Thursday, a huge explosion occurred outside the national security branch of Shubra el Kheima, Qalyubia, when a booby trapped car exploded outside the four-storey building. Many nearby buildings were damaged.
