
Counselor Mohamed Abdel Latif, the Secretary General of the State Lawsuit Authority (SLA), dismissed media reports that an international ruling was issued to compel the Egyptian government to pay 1.76 billion dollars in compensation for the Israel electricity company after the suspension of the Egyptian natural gas to it.
In a statement on Sunday, he said the Egyptian state is not part of a dispute between between Egyptian and Israeli companies on the issue of gas to Israel.
He said the issue mainly dealt with a trade dispute between the East Mediterranean Gas Company (EMG) and the Israel electricity company and Egyptian General Petroleum corporation (EGPC) and Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).
If the media reports are correct, the Egyptian state will not pay the sum as the dispute is between Egyptian and Israeli companies, the SLA said.
