A conference will kick off in Riyadh later Tuesday with the aim to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis through the moderate opposition in the Arab country.
Observers believe that holding the Syria conference just one day ahead of the Gulf summit is meant to show Gulf support for Syria.
Syria also tops the agenda of the Gulf summit.
An official with the Saudi Foreign Ministry had stressed Riyadh's support for a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
That's why Saudi Arabia invited all Syrian moderate opposition factions to sit down and talk their differences with the aim to reach a unified stance and choose their representatives.
Riyadh had pledged to secure all facilities to hold the Syrian negotiations.
About a hundred activists will be taking part in the talks.
