Commander of Libyan Armed Forces General Khalifa Haftar vowed to fully recapture Benghazi, Libya's second largest city which has been under the control of militants for months, in six days.
"We will announce the full liberation of Benghazi after six days and Tripoli will be also retaken after two weeks of battles," he said.
The 72-year old, long-serving Libyan army man, was recently promoted to the position of a general and was appointed by the Tobruk government as the new army chief.
Libya has now two governments, only one of them is internationally recognized and now based in Tobruk. Haftar mission is to counter the forces of a rival government which is based in the capital, Tripoli, and also controls the strategic city of Benghazi.
