Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Hamas movement, officially confirmed on Wednesday that its General Command Mohamed Deif still alive and wasn't killed in a Tuesday night airstrike on a house in northern Gaza city.
Abu Obeida, the group's spokesman, said on al-Aqsa television of the Islamic movement, "The leader Abu Khaled (Deif) wasn't hurt and the enemy's leaders failed to target him."
On Tuesday night, an Israeli war jet fired four missiles at a three-floor building in northern Gaza city, killing four people, including Deif's wife Widad and son Ali.
Abu Obeida accused Israel of violating a six-day ceasefire agreement that ended at midnight. Israeli and Palestinians held indirect talks in Cairo, sponsored by Egypt, for eight days without achieving any progress.
"We have given our political leaders and our people enough time to reach an agreement to stop the aggression, end the siege, and reconstruct Gaza, but after all these weeks of absurd talks, the enemy wasted a golden opportunity for an agreement," said Abu Obeida, adding that "after these violations and the crimes, we only can say that the Egyptian initiative was born dead."
Meanwhile, Abu Obeida warned the international airlines and flights against landing in Tel Aviv from 6:00 a.m. (0300 GMT) Thursday.
The group also asks the residents of the settlements on the outskirts of the Gaza Strip in southern Israel to return home and stay inside the underground shelters until further notice.
