Hariri criticises ‘hideous’ killing of Egyptian Copts

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri Monday condemned the “ominous” killing of Egyptian Christians after Daesh posted a video online showing the beheading of 21 Copts, The Daily Star reported.
“No hideous description can be enough to condemn the carnage witnessed along the Libyan coast that claimed the lives of 21 Egyptian citizens, caught in the grip of the demons of terrorism and death squads sweeping the Arab Spring countries,” Hariri said in a statement.
He said that Daesh was engaging in “one of the dirtiest wars that target the values of Islam and the standing of Muslims in the world.”
Hariri expressed his “deepest solidarity with the brotherly Egyptian people, especially the Coptic Church.”
He hailed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Egyptian leadership for their “crucial role in the eradication of hotbeds of evil and terror.”
Hariri also said the Arab world was depending on Egypt to “put an end to this malicious phenomena that threatens our religion, our values and the stability of our countries.”
