Flags of Egypt and the Suez Canal are raised on all affiliated institutions of the Heliopolis Association, said Nabil Helmy, the secretary general of the association, Monday.
A march of flag-raisers started from the Future Library Monday as part of the festivity, Helmy said.
An exhibition showing pictures was held and documentaries about the Suez Canal and the New Suez Canal were also displayed, he added.
A seminar will be held at the Heliopolis Library Tuesday on the political, economic and cultural importance of the New Suez Canal.
Tomorrow's festivity will also include a picture show and book fair about the Suez Canal, said Bahgat Shaker, the director general of the Heliopolis Association.
