Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani received Yemeni Human Rights Minister Ezzedine al-Asbahi and discussed the humanitarian situation in his country.
The meeting which was held at the GCC General-Secretariat in Riyadh focused on concerted efforts between the Arab Alliance and the legitimate Government to alleviate the Yemeni people suffering.
The two sides reviewed the efforts to the Human Rights Ministry to monitor and document rights violations to be later submitted to the international watchdogs and organisations. Dr. Al-Zayani expressed the hope that the other parties fighting the legitimate Government would respect the humanitarian truce which was announced yesterday by the Arab Alliance at the demand of Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
He underlined the necessity of respecting the ceasefire and stopping the bloodshed so as international humanitarian organisations could dispatch relief aid to different areas after the reopening of Aden Airport. The meeting was attended by GCC Assistant-Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Oweishaq, Head of GCC delegation to Yemen Saad Al-Arifi and Political Advisor Dr. Mashari Al-Naim.
