The Lower House has sent a notification to the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) that a second Irbid district seat had fallen vacant following the death of an MP and that a by-election is to be held to fill the seat.
IEC president Riyad Shaka'a said the Commission will conduct an election within two months from the date of the death of the lawmaker, as stipulated by the legislature's laws.
In a press release issued on Sunday, he said the Board of Commissioners will meet to set a date for the by-election within the constitutional framework, taking into consideration final voter lists, candidates and other procedures.
