Eight non-government organisations (NGOs) have submitted their applications to take part in monitoring the next parliamentary and municipal elections, member of the High National Elections Supervisory Committee Judge Khalid Hassan Ajaji said.
They are Mabade'a Society for Human Rights, Hiwar, Bahrain Public Relations Society, Bahrain Human Rights Watch, Karama, Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Development Society, Bahrain Transparency Society and Bahrain Jurists Association.
The number of monitors from those societies has topped 301so far, he added, pointing out that 55 applicants failed to meet the eligibility criteria as they were found to belong to some political societies. Consequently, they have been replaced in line with a resolution by the High Committee judges in their statement issued on October 2, 2014.
Judge Khalid Hassan Ajaji underscored the importance for all to commit to impartiality and transparency in monitoring the elections and disclosing information and media statements so as to ensure enforcement of the law within the framework of transparency and probity.
