Border patrols and teams in the south and west of the Kingdom thwarted the smuggling of 1,074 kg hashish and arrested over 200 infiltrators who tried to enter the country by sea during the period between Ramadan 21 and 29.
Border Guard spokesman Brig. Gen. Saher bin Mohammed Al-Harbi said the border patrols in Makkah during this period managed to thwart operations of infiltrators using boats to reach the coast of Saudi Arabia, coming from Sudan.
“In one operation, 123 men, women and children of different nationalities were on these boats. They were 71 Sudanese, 23 Ethiopians, 28 Chadians and a Nigerian,” said the spokesman.
He said that on Ramadan 25, Border Guard teams in Najaran thwarted a hashish smuggling operation after they detected a number of individuals trying to enter the Kingdom illegally. They were arrested and handed over to the relevant agencies for prosecution.
