
Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar decided on Wednesday establishing a permanent committee for promoting human rights in the police sector.
The step conforms with Egyptian constitution and law and international treaties.
The new panel will coordinate with various sectors of the Interior Ministry the implementation of endorsed strategies and plans that will further the human rights mechanism in the police sector.
The committee will develop training sessions for disseminating the culture of human rights among the ministry's cadres .
The committee will also cooperate with specialized national councils and non-governmental organizations concerned with human rights.
The step underscores the ministry's keenness on respecting and protecting human rights.
