Visiting Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi voiced on Saturday his country's intention to boost bilateral ties between the two countries, stressing the need to find a political solution for the Syrian crisis.
Bouroujerdi, who met with Lebanon's President Michel Aoun at the Baada Palace as the head of an Iranian delegation, discussed the regional situation -- particularly the crisis in Syria -- and efforts to reach a political solution to the neighboring conflict based in dialogue.
The Iranian official expressed hope that the Syrian peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana later this month would yield the desired political solution, according to the National News Agency (NNA).
Aoun said he also hoped for a political solution, which would help end Lebanon's the refugee crisis.
Boroujerdi met later with Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
