
Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra unveiled Saturday that four Algerian prisoners in Iraq were granted an amnesty from the Iraqi presidency. In statements to the state news agency (APS), Lamamra said that some of the former prisoners have already left Iraq and some still waits the completion of legal procedures to release them. He added that Algerian government continues talks with Iraqi counterpart to deal with the issue of the Algerian prisoners in Iraq. "We have already reached an agreement, with the Iraqi presidency to resolve the issue, which is implemented as per Iraqi law," he said. With regard to the developments on the efforts to release the abducted Algerian diplomats in Mali, Lamamra said "the issues tops the government priorities and efforts are intensified to secure their release."
