Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al Jaafari received on Thursday a copy of the credentials of newly-appointed Saudi Ambassador to Iraq Thamer el Sabhan.
Jaafari said he will visit Riyadh soon to discuss ways of boosting bilateral cooperation and facing regional threats.
He praised the reopening of the Saudi Embassy in Iraq following a 25-year rupture.
Saudi Arabia closed its embassy in Iraq and broke off relations in 1990 following the invasion of neighboring Kuwait during the reign of late president Saddam Hussein.
Jaafari called for unifying efforts to fight Daesh terrorist group and boosting relations with Saudi Arabia in all fields.
Sabhan expressed his country's support for Iraq to restore its security and stability.
He said the coming period will witnesses more cooperation between Baghdad and Riyadh in the political, economic and security fields.
