
Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim al Jaafari on Monday reaffirmed Baghdad's commitment to protecting the security of Saudi diplomatic missions in his country.
In statements, spokesman of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Jamal said that Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubair contacted his Iraqi counterpart regarding the safety of his country's diplomatic mission.
Jaafari promised that the Iraqi government would do its utmost to protect the mission pursuant to the relevant international laws.
On Sunday, the Saudi foreign minister said that his country takes very seriously all recent threats to its missions abroad and notified the UN Security Council of the Iranian aggression on the embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Mashhad.
Earlier, Iraq's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the execution of Saudi Shia cleric Nimr Baqr al Nimr.
