Joint Iraqi forces liberated on Sunday Albu Faraj area north of Ramadi city in Anbar governorate from Daesh militants, security and local sources said.
The forces secured houses and defused explosives that were planted earlier by Daesh group inside.
During the operation, the forces killed dozens of Daesh members while others fled the area to the nearby desert.
Security in Ramadi city is improving after the arrival of more troops to the city to support stationed troops in their war against the terrorist group, Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Kazim Fahdawi said.
The forces are currently preparing to launch a wide-scale military operation that aims to liberate areas controlled by Daesh in the surroundings of Ramadi city, he added.
