
Iraqi forces have seized Alas oil fields northeast of the city of Tikrit from Daesh militants, the army said on Monday.
Pro-government militias, known as “popular mobilization units,” said 260 militants from Daesh were killed.
The Iraqi forces have repelled an attack by Daesh on the Ajil oil field in eastern Tikrit, killing 73 Daesh militants.
Tikrit has been under Daesh control since June 2014.
On March 31, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi declared victory over Daesh militants in the city.
