Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al Abadi has urged the Foreign Ministry to file a formal complaint with the UN Security Council against Turkey for violating its sovereignty.
In press statements on Friday, Abadi said that the Turkish incursion is a flagrant violation of the UN charter and principles.
He called on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and protect the security, unity and sovereignty of Iraq.
Abadi called on the Security Council to order Turkey to withdraw its troops from Iraq immediately.
On December 4, approximately 150 Turkish soldiers were deployed near Mosul to replace training forces already in the area. In addition, about 25 tanks were also deployed to the region.
