Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi on Sunday phoned Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz to discuss regional and international developments.
King Salman and Abadi also discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern.
A statement by Abadi's office said that the Iraqi PM discussed with the Saudi king the war against Daesh group.
Abadi clarified that the war against Daesh and victories achieved through participation of all Iraqis and volunteers from the occupied areas was in line with a strategy represented by handing over liberated areas to local police, the statement added.
The Saudi King expressed his country's will to open new horizons of cooperation with Iraq, stressing that the Saudi Kingdom supports security and sovereignty of Iraq, the statement concluded.
