Israeli soldiers Saturday opened fire at a Palestinian vehicle east of Bethlehem and arrested its two passengers, according to local sources. Witnesses said the civilian car overturned after the soldiers shot at it. Mohammad Ghannam, 41, and his 17-year-old daughter, from Dura, a town southwest of Hebron, were in the car and were arrested by the army. No reason was given for the shooting. The army declared the area a closed military zone and brought reinforcements to it, the witnesses were quoted as saying by Palestine News and Information Agency "WAFA". Meanwhile, Jewish settlers from the settlement of Amos, east of Bethlehem, Saturday opened fire at a group of Palestinian shepherds from Kisan, a village south of Bethlehem, while herding their sheep in the area, said security sources. They said Israeli soldiers closed the area following the shooting. No injuries were reported.
