Hegazy met with Kawano and his accompanying delegation on Thursday. They exchanged views on regional developments and their repercussions on the regional and international security and stability.
Also, they discussed a number of topics of common concern and ways to boost joint military cooperation in several fields.
Kawano asserted the importance of fostering joint military cooperation with Egypt's Armed Forces that plays a strategic role to strengthen the regional and world security and stability.
For his part, Hegazy pointed to the depth and strong ties binding the two countries, saying that he looks forward to increasing joint cooperation with the Japanese armed forces.
Ways to face terrorist organizations in the region, the crises in Syria, Libya and Yemen, and the Middle East peace process figured high on the agenda of the Japanese delegation's talks in Egypt.
Egyptian-Japanese cooperation as regards international and regional issues of mutual interest was also tackled in light of Egypt's non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council.
