Jordan rejects report of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Yemen

Jordan has voiced its full rejection of the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on the humanitarian situation in Yemen which said that the coalition forces committed human rights violations in Yemen and targeted civilians as well as civilian facilities in the country.

Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted Nasser Judeh, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, as saying that Jordan, as a member of the coalition that aims to restore legitimacy in Yemen, affirms that operations of the coalition forces came at the request of the legitimate government of Yemen and its President, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

In a statement on the sidelines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, he added that these operations are also part of commitment to the UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

Judeh said that the ultimate goal of the coalition is to protect the Yemenis from violations being committed against them.
