Jordanian Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Hayel Abdulhafez Dawud on Tuesday expressed support for the Egyptian stance that was declared in its statement at a conference on the rights of religious minorities in Islamic countries, currently in session here.
The Egyptian statement was read out at the event by Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa.
Egypt holds that the legal framework regulating the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims is the principle of citizenship, which is an Islamic principle in the first place.
In statements to MENA, Dawud added that the stance of Islam on this score is clear. He expressed his rejection of any other practice that is not part of Islam.
